Kooyong win historic VBSA Billiards Grand Final

Kooyong scored another billiards premiership last week with a definitive 3-1 victory against Geelong in the VBSA A State Billiards Grand Final.

1. Steve Mifsud 465 (100, 208) d. David Collins 256 (58)
2. David Cosgriff 308 d. Steve Bagshaw 175
3. David Pitt 158 l. Robbie Chilcott 251
4. Don Richter 276 (43) d. Peter Politis 167

David Cosgriff and Don Richter set up the win with strong wins in the first round, and Steve Mifsud’s early 100 break followed by a magnificent 208 snuffed out all Geelong hope.

VBSA A State Billiards is the top grade of pennant billiards in Victoria and the strongest grade in Australia. This was Kooyong’s first premiership at this level since the club’s first year of competition in 1989.

The twin premierships this season from our Church of England and VBSA pennant billiards teams are Kooyong’s first billiards or snooker premierships in any grade since 1993.

With our VBSA City Clubs Circuit team on top of the ladder at the half-way point of the season, we are in the running to snag even more silverware later this year!
