Rising stars Ava Beck and Koharu Nishikawa have been selected to represent the nation in the prestigious Junior Billie Jean King Cup (JBJKC). The selection along with teammate Renee Alame (NSW) is great recognition of their development and success over the past year.
Both previously represented Australia in teams’ events, Beck in the qualifiers for the JBJKC earlier this year and Nishikawa in the 14/u World Team Championships in 2023. The pair have formed a strong friendship training together and representing Kooyong in State Grade pennant. They paired up to win doubles titles at the J100 Canberra Junior ITF and J200 Sydney Oceania Junior Championships this year and will now pair up to represent their Country to take on the World’s best at the 16/U event in Türkiye.
Their shared experiences and mutual support have been pivotal in their development as athletes. “We understand each other’s games so well. It’s exciting to represent Australia together; it’s a dream come true for both of us” Nishikawa said.
As they prepare for the event, both players are focused on bringing their best performances to the court for their country. The Junior Billie Jean King Cup finals will showcase the best emerging talent from around the globe and presents a significant opportunity for them to showcase their skills on an international stage.
We wish them and team Australia all the best!
