The second edition of the Peter Quinn Cup recently took place on the en-tout-cas courts at Kooyong.

Named after one of the Kooyong Foundation’s original founders and chairman of 15+ years, Peter’s efforts were recognised in 2020 when he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal.

This year’s PQ Cup had nearly 40 players competing, lining up some of the Kooyong Foundation’s best players, pairing a younger and older player to have some nicely balanced teams. A round robin doubles format, where three groups played off, with the winner of each group and next highest scorer progressing through to the Semi Finals and Final thereafter.

Over 100 people were in attendance including, valuable donors, Foundation and Club board members, coaches, staff, and players were all watching and enjoying some of KLTC’s finest BBQ catering.

A tense Final was played out between Ymerali Ibraimi (part of last year’s winning team) and Ava Beck versus Cooper Errey and Sienna Yokota-Ho in a 10-point tie break.

Ibraimi and Beck saved three match points in epic style, but it was the steady play from Errey and Yokoto-Ho’s clutch volley’s that shone through winning the Final 13-11 to win the Peter Quinn Cup!

Thank you all for participating in a wonderful enjoyable event.
